Meet The trainer – kalleigh marie
My journey began in 4-H with a horse named Buddy, who taught me the value of a patient, well-trained partner. He inspired my lifelong goal: ensuring every horse I work with becomes a reliable, well-trained partner, just like he was!
I refined this mission at Asbury University, where I developed my first project horse, Otis, from a six-month-old prospect into a fully trained police horse. During my senior year, I successfully managed a training string of five horses – specializing in colt starting, western performance, and police work.
Today, Otis serves as a testament to the long-term success of my program. Since his retirement from police work, he remains my partner in English disciplines like dressage and jumping, along with ranch riding and liberty.

Frequently Asked Question
What disciplines do you have experience in?
During college, our Western Performance was focused on the foundations of Reining. Beyond my academic career, I have worked under a professional trainer specializing in Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, and Ranch Trail. Additionally, I have trained under Barrel Racers and Pole Benders during an internship where I trained a young, skittish pony in just under a year who ended up placing or winning in every class, to include Horsemanship, Ranch Riding, and Trail.
I also have extensive professional training in Police Horse Training and start all horses off with the same basic foundation to make them a more confident horse in the future. While I enjoy all disciplines, I truly love training for the mounted police.
What is your training philosophy?
I believe in developing a “thinking partner” rather than a reactive animal. My method is rooted in calm, clear communication and progressive desensitization. Whether I am starting a colt, or giving a police horse a refresher course, I use pressure as a tool to build confidence, ensuring the horse is mentally prepared for whatever environment they enter.
Do you work with all breeds?
Absolutely! While I have more experience in Drafts and Thoroughbreds, I also have experience in quarter horses and mules! I am open to working with all breeds as long as the owner knows that not every breed progresses at the same rate!
How do I get started with a lesson or evaluation?
